Random Athlete Of The Day- Todd Walker

Todd Walker went to LSU where he was titled College World Series Most Outstanding Player as he led his Tigers to the National Championship in 1993. His college success resulted in the 8th overall pick to the Minnesota Twins in 1994. Walker became the everyday second baseman and hit over .300. Walker was later traded to the Colorado Rockies in 2000 where he once again hit over .300.

In 2001 Todd was traded to the Cincinnati Reds, he didn’t hit over .300 this time, he hit .295 and the next season he hit .299.

In 2003 the Boston Red Sox acquired Todd Walker, and he didn’t let them down when he hit 5 postseason homeruns.

Walker didn’t re-sign with the Sox, and went to the Chicago Cubs. Walker hit .274, .305, and .277. The San Diego Padres made a trade at the deadline of the 2006 season for Walker where he hit .282. In 2007 he was released by the Padres, and then picked up by the Oakland A’s. Then Todd somewhat disappeared after Dallas Braden got called up and Todd Walker was released.
