Parker went to play wideout at Oregon at the backend of Joey Harrington’s glory days. In these two years S-Park combined for 43 receptions, 787 yards (18.3 avg), and three touchdowns (TD’s came all sophomore year). In 2002 Kellen Clemens took over for Harrington, and Samie Parker totaled for 49 receptions 724 yards and a career high 8 touchdowns his junior year. As a senior Parker caught 77 balls and broke the 1,000-yard mark with 1,088 finishing 5th overall in the nation. Parker was named 2x Honorable Mention All-Pac-10 in 2002 and 2003.
In the 2004 NFL Draft the Kansas City Chiefs selected Samie Parker in the 4th round. His rookie season he only played in four games catching 9 balls for 137 yards and a touchdown. The next year Parker earned and sealed a starting job, and in 12 games had 36 receptions for 533 yards and three touchdowns. The next season with Trent Green and Damon Huard at QB, Parker played in every game and finished 3rd among his team in yards (561) and receptions (41) behind Eddie Kennison and Tony Gonzalez. In 2007, Parker’s last season as a Chief, his numbers declined with only 24 receptions, 298 yards, and two touchdowns.
Samie Parker then attempted to get on four different NFL teams from 2007-2009. The Denver Broncos signed him then released him in 2008, then the Carolina Panthers signed him and released him, then the Seattle Seahwaks signed and released him, then the Oakland Raiders signed and released him in 2009. Some real tough years for Samie Parker…
However Parker did not fold, he signed with the Las Vegas Locomotives in the UFL and won the championship. Then he signed with Chicago Rush in the AFL where he caught 78 passes for 1,135 yards and 15 touchdowns. Then back to the Locomotives in the UFL in 2010 to win another championship.
A few days ago Parker signed with the Toronto Argonauts in the Canadian Football League.
If your not sure how you remember the name, perhaps if you ever did a fantasy draft in Madden 2005 and simmed the later rounds of the draft, you most definitely ended up with Samie Parker.
